Description
After British Airways decided to migrate to Amadeus System User, all of
BA’s TPF system is now being maintained on-site by Amadeus. As a part of
Amadeus Integrity team , I was involved in resolution of PTR’s (Problem
Tracking Report), CR’s(Change Requests) and maintenance of British
Airways Reservation system (BABS). The overall objective was to ensure
smooth and effective running of the system with minimum impact on
business.
Responsibilities
As a member of Integrity team, I was involved in maintenance of BABS
(Bookings (Direct/Teletype, Ticketing (Paper/Etkt), Fares, Pre-paid Ticket
Advise (PTA), Automated Ticketing & Automated Ticket & Boarding (ATB)).
This included resolving dumps/bugs, high priority problem resolutions,
live system monitoring, PTR co-ordination, live desk support, maintenance
of off-line jobs(PTA & PNR file maint.), resolving customer queries,
system enhancements, co-ordination with other teams for problem
resolution(e.g. DCS, RS13 etc.).

Description
Involved in resolution of Various PMX’s, Fault Reports and to
supervise and maintain the Integrity of the system. PMX’s are problem
tickets that are raised for every dump that occurs on BABS and have a
significant impact on the maintenance of the system. Fault Reports are
bugs system, which are reported by the user or are obvious problems in the
system. Also, involved in forecasting and resolving problems with the
system, proactive problem resolution and systems monitoring.
Responsibilities
As Team Leader of the Integrity Team, Bombay (comprising of
Reservations Integrity Team (7 Members) and Links & Other Res.
Functions Team (5 Members)), which forms an inseparable unit of Integrity
Team at LHR. Serving more than 90 % of BA’s Res. Integrity needs &
performing all the above-mentioned tasks as well as Lead, guide and help
team members in resolution of system problems. Interact with Integrity
Team, LHR and manage resources in Bombay.
Success rate has been very high and the team efforts were very much
appreciated by customers.
Insulate AAA Dec.’98 to May’99

Description
The present booking database(s) (PNR’s & PTA’s) will be
replaced with an Orders Database. The order will have a working copy, the
Order Work Area (OWA), the OWA like AAA will be capable of handling Fixed
and Variable Data. Eventually all data will be migrated from PNR and AAA
to OWA. Currently there are many segments which perform Direct/Local
updates to variable data in the AAA, which will cause problems when
Variable data is migrated from AAA to OWA and hence the project aims at
Insulating AAA from Direct/Local updates.
Responsibilities
As a team Member , involved in the study of existing reservation system
for retrieving a PNR into AAA,
modifying , updating as necessary. Involved in coding of programs with
the utility programs to avoid Direct/Local updates to AAA Variable data,
with out effecting the existing system . Testing of the modified Segments
for consistency with existing Functionality.
Insulate PNR Aug.’98 to Nov.’98

Similar to AAA Insulation, the PNR Insulation also aims at making the
PNR independent of the platform to avoid the corruption of PNR data. The
Migration to Orders Database will be done in two phases
Migrate the PNR to AAA
Migrate the AAA to OWA
All the systems accessing the PNR will be made to use a common utility
thereby making things easier in the AAA to OWA migration Phase.
Responsibilities
As a team member, involved in the study of existing reservation system
for booking a PNR, retrieving
Modifying, updating. Involved in coding of programs with the new
utility to avoid corrupting of PNR data, with out effecting the existing
system. Testing of the modified programs and comparing the output with the
existing system is also being done.
